Practical app guide

How to build a stretching routine without unrelated exercises

Use an app with body-area filters and a saved custom routine. Select the area you want, inspect each movement, and keep only exercises that fit your space and experience. Save the sequence under a recognizable name. Unknot’s library groups routines by area and includes a custom reset builder; Bend also offers custom routines.

Unknot puts body-area filters and a custom reset builder in the same library.

The useful question is whether you can find and repeat the right sequence with a few clear choices.

Written by the team building Unknot. This guide covers planning your break, not an exercise prescription.

1. Start with the area, then inspect the movements

Look for a body-area filter rather than relying on broad routine names. Unknot’s library includes Neck, Hips, Spine & Back, and other areas. A filter narrows the catalog; it does not certify that every exercise is appropriate for you. Read the steps before adding anything.

2. Save a sequence you recognize

Use a name that tells you when you will open it, such as “between meetings.” Check the order and the space required: a sequence that repeatedly switches between the floor and a chair may be inconvenient at work. The goal is to reduce setup decisions, not to collect as many exercises as possible.

3. Check what customization actually means

Before purchasing any app, check whether you can choose individual movements, save them together, and reopen the result. A questionnaire that assigns a routine is different from an editor you control. Bend’s official feature page also lists custom routine creation, so this capability alone is not a reason to switch.

4. Keep a second option for a different setting

If your home routine uses a mat, keep a separate office option with movements you have already checked for that space. Reuse a saved sequence instead of generating a different page or plan for every possible location.

Try the workflow before committing

Choose one routine, inspect its movements and controls, and decide whether the format fits your day. Check access and subscription terms before purchasing. A long feature list is less useful than a session you can actually follow.
