A countdown should help you follow a session. It should leave you in control when you need to read, reposition, or stop.
Written by the team building Unknot. This guide covers planning your break, not an exercise prescription.
1. Inspect the controls before the first session
Find pause, the instruction panel, navigation, and finish before the countdown starts. If a control is unclear, use the app’s help material first. In Unknot, the instructions expand below the illustration and the main timer control pauses a timed movement.
2. Separate reading from timed movement
Pause while you read instructions or make room. Resume only when you are ready. Do not treat the countdown as a deadline for getting into position. Check whether an app offers transition settings if automatic pacing is particularly important to you.
3. Check how the routine handles each side
Read the full instruction, including any left/right direction, before you begin. A short beep may only mark a timer boundary. If you need a narrator explaining what happens next, choose a spoken or video class format and preview the instruction style.
4. Finish deliberately when your break ends
An interrupted meeting break is a normal reason to finish a session. Unknot includes a visible Finish session control. Skipping a movement and completing it are different actions; do not use the timer as evidence that you completed an exercise you skipped.
Try the workflow before committing
Choose one routine, inspect its movements and controls, and decide whether the format fits your day. Check access and subscription terms before purchasing. A long feature list is less useful than a session you can actually follow.
