Stretching at work

A stretching app for shared offices: what to look for

For a shared office, look for readable instructions, a routine you can inspect in advance, and controls that let you pause or finish when work interrupts. Choose movements that fit your actual space and clothing. Unknot combines body-area browsing with illustrated routines. Preview every sequence: some exercises need floor space.

Unknot lets you browse by body area and prepare a custom reset before your break.

The office constraint is practical: you may share a room, have little spare space, and need to stop when a colleague arrives.

Written by the team building Unknot. This guide covers planning your break, not an exercise prescription.

1. Before the workday: inspect the whole sequence

Check where each movement takes place and whether it uses a chair, wall, or floor. Do not assume a routine with “desk” in its name stays seated. Save a suitable sequence so you can open it directly during the break.

2. For a shared room: check sound and instructions

Preview the app at the volume you normally use in the office. Confirm you can still follow the written instructions when listening is inconvenient. Do not assume an illustrated app has no sounds; check the actual session and your phone settings.

3. Between meetings: leave room for setup

Allow time to read the next movement and move to a suitable space. A routine’s displayed duration may not include your setup time. If a break gets cut short, use the finish control rather than rushing to complete a countdown.

4. For interruptions: use a simple fallback

Keep one recognizable saved routine and one alternative time in your calendar. If reminders repeatedly arrive during calls, adjust or disable them and use a natural transition such as finishing a meeting. More notifications are not automatically more useful.

5. Where Unknot fits

The development build shown below groups routines by body area and provides a custom reset entry point. Its player has written instructions and pause/finish controls. If you need an app today, Bend publishes Desk Stretch and Standing Desk routines; inspect their movements before using them in your office.

Try the workflow before committing

Choose one routine, inspect its movements and controls, and decide whether the format fits your day. Check access and subscription terms before purchasing. A long feature list is less useful than a session you can actually follow.
